SuturePro Technologies Closes $8.1 Million Series A Financing
MENLO PARK, CALIFORNIA – October 2010 – Medical device company, SuturePro Technologies, Inc., developer of novel surgical tools for arthroscopic procedures, today announced that it closed an $8.1 million Series A funding. The effort was led by Versant Ventures and 5AM Ventures.

SuturePro Technologies, Inc. develops novel surgical tools for orthopaedic procedures. The technology enables surgeons to place stitches in very tight joint compartments, while protecting sensitive surrounding structures such as nerves, arteries and cartilage. This technology has applications in numerous arthroscopic procedures in knees, hips, and shoulders.
SuturePro was founded in October 2010 based on the inventions of Dr. Justin Saliman, a practicing orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. Dr. Saliman envisioned improving the outcomes of arthroscopic procedures by enabling surgeons to arthroscopically place suture patterns that can only be done in open procedures, or not at all, today. SuturePro is based in Menlo Park, California.
