Orthopaedic Surgeon Uses Advanced Technique to Repair Twenty-year-old Knee Injury with the NovoStitch® Pro Meniscal Repair System
FREMONT, Calif. – Aug. 23, 2018 – Twenty years ago, athlete and law enforcement officer Charles Proscio injured his knee while practicing martial arts. Though he experienced knee pain for years, two decades later his symptoms became more troublesome and Charles sought care from orthopaedic surgeon Jaspreet Sekhon, M.D., for meniscus repair surgery hoping for relief.
Traditionally, a torn meniscus has been treated with a complete or partial meniscectomy (removal of the meniscus), but advances in technology have made meniscal tears amenable to repair.
Using the NovoStitch® Meniscal Repair System, Dr. Sekhon was able to repair and preserve Proscio’s torn meniscus, potentially staving off the need of future knee replacement surgery.
